Just Some Thoughts

Hopefully, you have been out and about enjoying our gift of sustained beautiful weather.

It doesn’t get any better than this around here – no rain and, more to point, not even a threat of same to metaphorically cloud our plans. Here’s to brilliant sunshine with bluebird skies. And, yes, we’ve heard from the we-need-rain people even though this bout of good weather has not yet been long enough even to stop roadside seepage of runoff from adjacent hills.

Before we head out to enjoy today’s bounty, here are some thoughts on events in the news.

I’d hope, if my wife were asked whether she had married her brother, as Ilhan Omar (or whatever she’s calling herself today) has been, the wife could do better than “not my knowledge.”

If ever I’ve heard an evasive, lawyer-advised tap dance, that was it. But, hang on Ilhan, if Democrats take Congress all investigations into you and other alleged grifters of the public purse will cease in favor of persecution of conservatives, the bedrock of this land.

I was heartened, and amused, to see video of the Catholic priest in Milan (Italy, not Indiana, the town on which the movie “Hoosiers” was based) returning a one-finger salute to a “student” protester who had given him the gesture. Afterward, said priest expressed no remorse. No one bothered to ask the thug protesters, who had chased innocents into his church, if they felt bad about what they had done.

Alas, this priest still believes such domestic breakdowns can be cured by discourse, so he hasn’t totally gotten with the reality of the moment.

There is no more perfect illustration of the enabling of ‘”student” riots in Paris than the picture of the blonde bimbo type activist, her face aghast that the same malcontents whose rights she reportedly had protested for, now were looting a shop (some reports say it was hers) despite her plaintive pleas that this was not the cause.

Perhaps when she was a student, she should have spent more time reading about the French Revolution, which devolved from a fight against the monarchy into random killing of political opponents, often fellow revolutionaries who perhaps were not radical enough in their views. Think current left-wing socialist Democrats forcing their party into extreme positions.

The best meme I’ve seen, explaining in a simple way the consequences of failing to vote so even a five-year-old could understand, proposes a bus with 10 passengers deciding whether to drive off a cliff. Three vote yes, two vote no and five do not vote. And the bus goes off the cliff. Think of New York City, where Mamdani The Commie won the Democrat primary for mayor partly due to only 30 percent of registered voters participating, and only a reported 43.5 percent of those voted for Mamdani. That’s how a bus gets driven off a cliff without majority approval.

Polls long have been doubted by thinking people as to their accuracy. Earlier this week came the confession that the people at Wedgewood Polls just made it all up. Not surprisingly, the usual far-left suspects such as the New York Times, and MSNOW, were only too eager to run with the Wedgewood polls showing Republicans trailing by huge margins in various races. This is all part of a nefarious attempt to discourage the conservative electorate into giving up and not voting. Don’t let them win.

Baseball’s World Series opens tonight, contested by two teams from small markets, with modest payrolls. If Milwaukee and Tampa Bay can do it, why can’t the Pirates?
